It really did start with a little Field Notes book and a Vision Board.

I was on a plane in March of 2014 and it came to me. I knew what I wanted to do, what I wanted to create. I pulled down the tray table and wrote furiously in my Field Notes book about it.

This is what I wrote...

Empowering Creativity – a place for groups or individuals to discover themselves through food, getting outside, farming, cooking, camping, cabin/yurt.  Go for a day, a weekend, set up a temporary office, get out of the city, out of the daily routine. Build relationships with yourself, your team, other people’s teams, etc.  Wow, it’s fun to look back at these notes.  As soon as I got home, I started visualizing the space. I went to coffee with the amazing Greg Bell to explore what this Creativity Universe would look like. If it were a University, what would be on the campus. We started drawing it out: a kitchen, a play ground, an amphitheater, an art studio, a garden, an auditorium/barn and a treehouse. It was starting to take shape.  I had so many thoughts in my head, I needed to get them organized, I needed a clear way to see what I was hoping to create. That’s when I began working on my Vision Board. I started googling all of the elements I had envisioned. I started saving images that “spoke” to me. I created folders on my laptop to keep everything sorted. I gathered so many images, so many cool ideas. I started to picture this place. I even gave it a name: The Ranch. It was so powerful and incredibly fun.  I put a copy of my Vision Board on my phone, I made it my computer desktop image (it still is…) When it came time to start looking for property, I shared it with my Realtor. I used it to evaluate the properties, did they measure up to my vision? It was truly a key factor to keep me focused, to keep me connected to the intention of what I wanted to create.

Well…it worked. I now live and work at the Peach Cheesecake Ranch. And to pay it forward I have been hosting Vision Board Workshops here on a regular basis. I want to help people SEE who they want to be, what they want to do and what they want to have.
