Let’s just say, SH*T WAS DONE!
It’s amazing when things go as planned. Or maybe even go better as planned. I had the most beautiful day last week with my partner in Get Sh*t Done #GSD crime, Jody Temple White; the hostess with the mostest, Ruthanne Adams of Heaven and Earth Retreats and nine brave entrepreneurs and small business owners.
Let’s just say, sh*t was done at the Take Action Retreat. And done in so many different ways. The gorgeous grounds at Heaven and Earth Retreats provided an incredible variety of quiet spaces in nature, spaces inside with views and everything in between. You can see photos of all of the great spaces in the Retreat Event Gallery.
We had an eclectic collection of action takers; a few writers, an architect, a couple of massage therapists, a recruiter, a cycling clothing designer, a marketing consultant and an audio brander. That creative mix of souls made for a palpable energy of accountability and productivity.
We all took advantage of a great array of tools and techniques off and online. I'd say we were all APPidextrous. Here’s a partial list of the tools that were in action:
Index cards
Sticky notes
Butcher paper
Sharpies
Trello
Basecamp
Moo Cards
Google
Gamestorming
Business Model Canvas
Value Proposition Canvas
Powerpoint
Leap Mandalas
Excel
Amazon Prime
Gmail
Kanban tools
Wordle.net
Nixon Blaster
Laptops
Desktops
Headphones
LinkedIn
Aprons
This inaugural group of Take Action Retreaters were inspiring from the minute they walked in. I am grateful for every single small and big step they took. Here’s a partial list of the things that were accomplished:
Visioned and planned a complete book launch
Vision and mission statement
Two value propositions
Pricing research
Sales presentation
LinkedIn profile
Business idea chosen
Five cycle Jerseys designed
Business cards designed an ordered
URL chosen and purchased
New email accounts set up

It’s incredible what a full day without distractions and a little accountability can do for you.
